Tax Professionals

We believe in opportunity

The filing of tax returns burdens every individual. Planning and preparing for tax time is often complicated by complex financial structures and regulations.

We want to use our tax expertise to your advantage as we journey with you towards a bright financial future.

About our team,

Our team provides services to people, helping them manage their lives.

Services are provided as needed, and may include financial advising, financial planning, or other consultations that may range in topic. We might talk about investments, retirement, estate plans, insurance, employee benefits, and/or tax implications.

However, we start with the client relationship. We view every client relationship as a unique connection. A new opportunity to provide specific and tailored attention that, consequently, leads to a client’s receipt of high value service. The value is rooted in years of building financial acumen, technical experience, and a sense of responsibility that defines what it means to be an advisor.

Additionally, we stress the value we place on contributing to our community. You are as much a part of this community as we are. We believe that if we do our part well, you will be able to do your part better. Thus, we’re invested! We desire to put forth our best. For you and for the rest of us.

A little history,

Back in 2021, Jacob and his dad, John Vanator, did a bit of dreaming.

They said, “is there another stream of service that we can add  that might be able to make good use of the accounting and tax expertise that we have accumulated?” They decided to call a long time friend, fellow CPA, and financial advisor, Marty Latchaw.

Marty, who is just as passionate about serving his clients as the Vanator family is, said that he was looking for someone to help him with his financial advising practice. Jacob and Marty struck up a relationship, Jacob pursued and received his securities licenses, and now the two work together to meet the needs of their clients.

The duo, together, represent both longevity and experience as they provide services to their clients.

We are eager to help, and we have the skill to do so!

Professional Service

As we build our advising relationship, we will consider a full range of services, implementing as you deem necessary, to meet your needs and goals.

Years of Experience

We’ve been working for folks like you since the earth’s crust was cooling. We take pride in our longstanding reputation of providing high value and effective personal service.

Commitment to Improve

We desire to communicate our commitment to clients through our continual investment of time and resources in professional continuing education, state-of-the-art technology, and community, service, and business relationships.

Martin Latchaw

Martin Latchaw

Marty began his life of service early as a member of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). He earned the Eagle Scout award at age 15 and has been registered as a Scout or Adult Scouter for over 50 years. His two sons are also Eagle Scouts. He received the Silver Beaver Award from the BSA in 1991 for outstanding leadership.

As a high school student, Marty worked in the local hardware store with owner Rod Yates – from whom Marty learned how to serve people.

In 1969, Marty enlisted in the US Army and completed both basic training and jump school. Then, Marty went to Vietnam, where he served as a radioman in the 101st Airborne. Marty was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the U.S. Army.

After returning home, Marty attended and graduated from Michigan State University, receiving his degree in accounting in 1978. Marty began his career providing tax and accounting services shortly after receiving his degree. Marty began providing financial services in 2001.

In 1979, Marty joined the Charlotte Fire Department and served as a 24/7 volunteer fireman. He served the Department for 34 years. Working with the Charlotte Christmas Kiddies program, Marty served as Santa, riding in parades on fire trucks. He wore the red coat for 30 years. He received the Outstanding Charlotte Fireman Award from the Department in 1996.
He joined Rotary in 1982 and served the club as President in 1993-94.

Over the years, Marty has generously shared his expertise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), quietly donating financial services to his church and many non-profit organizations. Despite his record of achievement and his long-standing commitment to his community, you’ll never hear him speak about his accomplishments. However, you will hear everything about his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, subjects that bring Marty great delight.

Jacob Vanator

Jacob Vanator

Jacob completed his accounting degree in 2018, and an MBA in 2019, both at Central Michigan University. He has working with his family at Vanators & Associates CPA PC since January of 2020. Jacob received his license to practice public accounting in 2020. Jacob completed his securities licenses in 2022 and has been providing advising services since, working with Marty Latchaw and Cambridge Investment Research. Jacob received his life and health insurance license in July of 2023 and has been providing insurance services since, working with NFG Brokerage.

Jacob grew up wrestling with his calling as an accountant, often comparing it with other potential career fields. In college, Jacob solidified his plans to pursue a career in Accounting and began preparing himself for work at the family firm. Jacob now finds his calling as an accountant fits. New hats, such as owner, advisor, planner, and client advocate seem to fit well. Jacob enjoys spending time curating his vision of the future of both Vanators & Associates CPA PC & Vanator Financial Services LLC.

Jacob contributes to his community in his capacity as treasurer of Rotary of Eaton Rapids and as Adjunct Instructor at Great Lakes Christian College.

Jacob thinks his nephew Cooper is awesome.
